Notes:
Really interesting LP containing musicological studies from the Peruvian amazonia Bora tribe. The gatefold cover includes a 16 page booklet with lots of information. quote from the cover: "Among the Bora of the Yaguasyacu river one can observe a great variety of musical and coreographic manifestations, still fully integrated with communal ritual in its diverse forms. Ritual implies the involvement of the whole group, the mandatory participation of every individual for the purpose of ensuring the preservation of the order of life by means of the repetition of the mithical model, of what took place at the time of the Great Beginning. It is precisely on these occasions that language is revealed as the basic expressive element linking man to that which is sacred. The present study conveys the results of approaching the Bora's dances, instrumental renderings, songs and sound instruments from an angle which attempts an understanding of the aborigine's inner processes and employs, in addition to the regular techniques of musical analysis, those references to sense and content which are found in the culture itself."
